just updated my ipadpro12.9 to ios 10, and upgraded to the latest versions of Pages and Numbers.

Now, all of a sudden, i cant open any of my usual files in these apps with the message tells me the previous owner has stopped sharing and i dont have permission to access the files. Wtf? How is this sorted? Its VERY important.

Are you signed in with the same iCloud account?

iCloud is like a recycled version of MobileMe that's been relabeled. It's sad that Apple doesn't seem to be able to create a decent cloud service.

The issue with Pages may or may not get Apple's attention in the immediate future. Like their milk toast approach to OS X, the Cupertino Company is so focused on iPhone and AW hardware that the issue you're reporting would be easy for them to procrastinate on.

well, i actually found, completely by accident, a stupid solution to the problem -

none of my Numbers/Pages files worked after the software update. so i went into the app, selected all files and hit delete (thinking i'd do a restore to try fix things). i then exited the apps and went back into them only to find, infront of my eyes, the files re-appearing. they all now worked just dandy. most strange.

So you probably DO use iCloud, otherwise the documents would be gone.

no, i do not, most definitely. have never signed up for it and never will.

im assuming there must have been a bug in the software/update activation. this happened locally and offline.

I've run into the same problem.

    1. Docs created in the previous versions of Numbers (v3.6) on MacOS or iOS, stored in iCloud, or locally. It doesn't matter.

    2. Incredibly, MacOS Numbers (v4.0) is unable to open documents created in v3.6. Likewise for iOS 10 Numbers.

    Solution?

    1. In an old version of Numbers (v3.6), export your files to Numbers '09.

    2. The newest version of Numbers should now be able to open the file.

    3. When you save, you will be prompted to upgrade.

It's absolutely dumbfounding to me that the newest version of Numbers is unable to open from it's predecessor. But this seems to be the case.
