can't open pictures

Hey guys I can't view pictures that are sent to me using the mail application. It converts the attachments to a winmail.dat file. How can I fix this? Also it does the same thing to me on my iPhone. I am using gmail through the mail app. Please help.🙁

got it figured out. The emails where coming from an outlook account and they had pull up an email that I had sent previously and right click on my email address and go to outlook properties and change internet format to send plain text only. Problem solved. Hope this helps some people. I know it was driving me crazy.
