Can't open some powerpoint files!

I have a .ppt file that I can't open in Microsoft Powerpoint on my mac. And it doesnt preview as a .ppt file either.

Normally a .ppt file would be previewd like this

But instead it gets previewd like this:

What should I do? 🙂

I have Office 2008. And so does my friend and he can open the file.
