cant open timeline?

I'm new to FCP5 and this is stupidly basic, but i cant seem to get my timeline and canvas open at all.

try looking under "window"

Dbl-Click a clip in the Browser window. Do the same for a sequence.

Also, since you're new to the program, read the manual. It will save you future trouble and headaches.

ok solved it. you have to have a sequence open in the browser. i had lots of bins but no sequences!
