I can only open word from my office folder, within my applications folder, not from my desktop.. All other programs work perfectly. Is there anything I can do to open it from my desktop?

I've tried using both the original app and a duplicate (not alias).

Here's the message that pops up when trying to open it from the desktop (same message appears for the duplicate and the original).

Also, attached is the Get Info window, it's also the same one for both.

It's 10.6.8

I don't really like the little arrow that comes up when you have an alias haha, however an alias does open from the desktop! I guess I could use it as a temporary solution, but I'd rather have a duplicate.
