Can't ovewrite files

I got a new hard drive installed with leopard. Ever since then I have not been able to overwrite files. It tells me it's in use and it's not. Is there a preference that has been changed? a Leopard issue? it's driving me crazy!

Have you repaired permissions thru Disk Utility?

What do you mean by you got a new hard drive installed with Leopard ? You got a hard drive that already had Leopard on it ?

i bet he means he installed a new hard drive on a mac running leopard os
