Can't place files in certain areas on desktop.

First let me say that the problem usually remains even after I click "Clean Up" in the View menu. I have my desktop set to "Snap to Grid". But sometimes there just seem to be certain points on the grid that will not accept me dragging a file there. It will just push the file to another location. Sometimes clicking "clean up" works. Sometimes I have to change the icon sizes then change them back. Sometimes nothing works unless I reposition a few other files. This seems like a weird glitch or bug in OSX. Any fixes or info?

i have this issue too. sometimes it wont let me place folders in certain locations for some strange reason. i would like a fix too.
