I'm using an iMac and an iMac Pro with High Sieraa & Mojave, and I'm having issues with video playback on two SEPARATE machines! The 2 iMacs are completely different, are in difficult buildings (one's in my office, the other my home machine) and are for different uses - but I have this same bug on both!?
Here's what happens:
After using the iMac to play back any video content, whether that's online streaming/Facebook timeline videos/YouTube or Quicktime files or even editing/playback in Final Cut Pro X - it stops after about 10-15 minutes of use meaning I can't watch any video AT ALL until a reboot.
I have to restart the machine to gain playback back again before it stops working again after 10 minutes.
For example, I'll open a Quicktime video file, and it won't play, just stuck on the first frame. I can skip through the videos and see the frames, but it's won't play. Even YouTube will say "Restart your computer if the problem persists". It's almost like the video hardware is freezing and needs a reboot, or something triggers a block on video content...
What's odd, is that even though all online videos, YouTube, MP4 files, MOV files, Final Cut etc. breaks playback, I can still play back most files with VLC only.
Has anyone else had this issue with video playback on their Mac?
It's driving me insane, especially after spending $5,000 on the iMac Pro...!
