Hey all...

my iBook G4 has a combo drive, and it has no problem whatsoever reading burned or bought CDs, as well as bought DVDs, but it will not read burned DVDs. Every time I insert a burned DVD into the drive, it spits it back out after making a lot of noise. My friend, who has the exact same iBook (they're school-issued), has no issue playing burned DVDs, so I know it's not the DVD....

but it's not a piracy thing!! I'm not trying to play a pirated DVD, I'm trying to play a promotional DVD from a non-profit organization that I volunteer for...

I'm not meaning to insult your intelligence, but have you tried a restart? My PB wasn't reading DVDs and a quick restart fixed the problem.

Make sure that you both have the same updates, also what type of disc is it? It may work for him but your drive might be picky so try a different brand.

you said it was an "issued" computer . . . . . . is it possible that bart simpson had it before you and changed a bunch of settings like regions?
