Can't Print from Safari

I just downloaded 10.5 and everything is fine but i can't print at all from safari or firefox, can anyone help?

Install the printer software.
Plug in the printer to the wall and the mac.
Turn printer on... it should run a test page.
Try printing.
If that does not work restart your mac and try again.

Have you done all that?

It printed the test page fine...will print from MS word and MS excel, but Safari and firefox basically crashed when asked to print. Did restart the laptop. This sucks. any help would be great, thanks
