I don't want this post to be very long. I tried Suunto, Garmin and AW Se 2.
I don't care much about the smartwatch features and I also don't like thousand subscriptions on my account.

My question is, will for example Vivoactive 5 (or venu 3) be more accurate in terms of steps, heart rate, calories burned than apple watch?
I prefer if my watch underestimates my efforts that overestimate it (for example I used Gentler streak app daily chores activity and after 20 minutes of floor cleaning I got 180 calories, way off in my opinion).

I also tried fenix 7 and epix gen 2 but they are too big and heavy for me so I'm looking for something that is capable but lighter.
I try to loose some weight so calories burned during the day is the most important metric for me. Unfortunately in my country we don't have apple trade-in so I guess I'm going to lose some money by selling my apple watch se 2 for half the price (at best) but I'm willing to do that.

I thought for a minute about the Ultra 2 but that's essentially the same watch as the other models (when we look at the software, not hardware) so I guess that's not an option for me.

Do a search for “Garmin” on this forum, thread title, and you’ll get plenty opinions

If you use an iPhone, I can’t imagine you not using an Apple Watch. It will not add another subscription and it will tell way more than the others about your health while on your journey to loose weight. You do not have to use the smart watch features, just the ones you want to use.

Garmin Venu 3 gets me 11 days, I'm thinking of going to AW because of the ECG. I had an AW before and rarely wore it now that I'm older and in shape I only want it for walking, biking, and the medical but it is hard to tell which one has the better ECG. Spoke with my medical friends and they said they were both good but they would not base a diagnosis on the results of either one. IMHO the setup and adding and removing of functionality on the Garmin is so much nicer than AW.

I guess everyone needs something else. Im 34 (almost) and I would say that I'm not fit but I want to be. This constant charging drives me nuts to be honest. I'm saving money for venu 3 or epix 2 (not pro version, too expensive). Happy new year!!

I am 51 and train everyday: weight lifting, crossfit and cardio (running and bike). I have both: on my left arm I have a Garmin Forerunner 955. On my right arm an Apple Watch Ultra 2. The main fitness is Garmin. Both are connected to a garmin bluetooth heart strap for good readings (for weights and crossfit the heart sensor of both products is not good). Apple Watch is much better for music, apps, and for elegant dressing. For real sports, Garmin is THE smartwatch. Honestly I am used to wear them both so I can appreciate the best they have to offer.
About battery: I charge the garmin sometimes while washing myself or when eating. I never had problems of battery.
I charge the Ultra when I remember, but I have an Apple Watch serie 8 I use when I charge U2.
One last thing. I don't know if it is a rule or because I my big use of the Garmin ones, but previosuly I had a Fenix 3 and a Forerunner 945. Both died after exactly 3 years after I had bought them, they also have a very fragile charge cable. I had to buy a new one after two years.
