Just took delivery last night. It's early, but its amazing to see basically every app open instantaneously. The best part so far is that logging into my work machine (a Windows machine no less) via Citrix is much faster - the latency is like being at my desktop, speed is much improved. Haven't felt any heat at all. The 2020 Intel machines were fine, but these are another level. IMO basically anyone that likes the MacBook form factor and that has an older model should upgrade now.

I've had mine around a week-and-a-half and all I've got to say is, it's a joy! While I also use a MacBook Pro 16-inch, I'm going to be taking my MacBook Air with me on "vacation" to put my newspaper together remotely. It may be physically small, but it's a powerhouse.

Just got mine this morning; waiting for the delivery of my Space Grey Apple Magic numeric keyboard & TrackPad 2 from Amazon 👌🏻

It's done the migration from my TM faultlessly and it's blisteringly fast; so far, VERY impressed!

I set my MBA and Mac Mini up from scratch. I've migrated my last 4 machines over 20 years and figured it's time to start from scratch.

i sent mine back.
it was kinda flaky and i hated the touch bar.
so pleased i kept my 12" retina MacBook.
i doubt we'll see the likes of the 12" ever again, since apple seems intent on pushing the iPad.
it's a closed system, whereas at least with a 12" MB one can source other content externally - movies and epub files, for example

Yeah; I started the MBA up and updated it fully before I did the migration

But the migration is needed for me as it moves a lot of personal & business stuff across and keeps it all in place, for me that makes my life easier :)

The MBA doesn't have a touch bar... 🤨

Even adjusting for the time they were used, of all the laptops I've owned, (like 7-8), it's undoubtedly the best.

Only things I miss from past laptops were Windows ultrabook designs (parts of W10's software too) and MacBook Pro brightness + speakers.

Otherwise, the lack of a touchbar, dramatically superior performance, battery life and lighter design made it a pretty easy trade from an Ice Lake MBP (2020). Glad I got out when I did lmfao

I've had mine since November and it is the best Mac I've owned in years. I've almost completely stopped using my 2020 iPad Pro. I pretty much only use it for reading in bed now. I guess my iPad Pro is a kindle now.

lmfao this is the main reason I want an iPad, and really I wouldn't even consider a new Pro 11 if Apple would just release a ****ing full-screen iPad Mini. Ideally, an OLED iPad Mini with ample RAM.

I traded in a 1st gen retina MacBook for my M1 MacBook Air. Love it.

You had a MacBook Pro if you're talking about the touch bar. You really should get the MacBook Air instead. Besides the slight increase in size (which I no longer really notice), it's everything that the retina MacBook was supposed to be.

And just an FYI, there's lots of apps (like WALTR) that can load external content from a Mac on to an iPad.

I have an 16 in mbp and a m1 air. And man the m1 instantly turns on. Unlocking with the watch or finger print is instant. With the intel you would wait 5-6 seconds. Sometimes longer.
