cant repair my Hd

I have just verifired my internal HD of my mack book 2.0ghz 2gb ram (toshiba mk1032gsx ) and I get the following message

volume header needs repair
error the underlying task reported failure on exit

1hfs volume checked need repair


however the repair disk option is greyed out and wont let me repair it.


any help would be most gratefully recieved

Either boot from your Tiger-DVD (or restore disk) and run Disk Utility from that or start up in Single User mode and run fsck.
