Hi all.

Just received a new iPhone SE. Connected it to my Mac to restore my archived iPhone X backup made on 17 April. Once I’ve selected the backup and clicked continue I am asked to agree to the iPod software licensing agreement (which is odd given it is not an iPod). It then disconnects the SE and it vanishes from finder.

All software was/is the most up to date at the time.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

M.

Is iTunes up to date?

Are you using a Mac or a PC?

Is the backup from a newer version of iOS than the new phone shipped with?

Have you tried restoring from backup from the cloud?

I'm using macOS Catalina 10.15.4.

Both iOS devices are on 13.4.1.

I specifically have iCloud backup turned off so I only have the full backup on my Mac.

How do you know what software is on the phone if you haven’t set it up? I’m only asking as it actually ships with 13.4 not 13.4.1 if it’s from the first batch of devices.

You may have to try the iCloud route then and just turn it off and delete the old backup after you’ve done it.

It's 13.4.1 because when I set it up a different way that is the OS on it.

Boot up phone - set it up as new, check iOS version. Upgrade it if necessary, then connect to your laptop and try to restore using Finder (ex iTunes, rip). It sounds like an iOS version issue.

Ah ok, then my idea isn't going to do anything you've not already done.

I think I'm just going to live with it as it is because I'll be switching back to my iPhone X when it comes back from repair with Apple.
