iPhone error 28 is related to a hardware issue.

After i updated my iPad 2 to iOS 5 i let it sync via WiFi. When I picked up the iPad few hours later, it did not respond. Connecting it to iTunes, iTunes did see an iPad in Recovery mode. iTunes did however not show the serial number nor any other Information. When i tried to restore the device it stuck in DFU mode and I always got 'Error 28'.

I made an appointment at the Genius Bar at a nearby Apple Store. It took them 10 minutes to replace the iPad for a new one. The Apple employee did not give me any indication as to why this happened, he just replaced the device saying it is a hardware error.

I post this as a future reference, should anybody get the same error.

I have a phone with the same error 28. I tried restoring it to 4.3.5 and now I'm getting error 3194, but my regular procedure that works through error 3194 is not working on it... so I know its not really a 3194, but iTunes lies.

I'm going to try a few things tomorrow, I'll let you know if I figure out anything.
