I'm having trouble saving files from my mac to the 2TB Time Capsule.

I'm getting the message, "Modifying _____ Time Capsule requires an administrators name and password. To move _________ , click Authenticate"

Are you the original owner of this TC?

Okay found out that the Time Capsule won't allow to save anything to it while it's allocated as a back up for Time Machine. It has to be partitioned to allocate a portion not committed then it "should" work at that point.

We'll see how it goes..

You cannot partition the disk inside a Time Capsule. I have a Time Capsule and I can drag and drop files onto the single partition in Finder just fine. It sounds like perhaps you have something configured incorrectly in Airport Utility.

How do you have this screen setup?

Can you explain exactly how you are trying to save the file? I just open a Finder window then navigate to the TC disk by clicking on the TC under Shared then I double click the disk open it up. From there I can drag/drop anything I want into the window.

I tried to save mine the exact way you did. The issue was that the disk didn't have a folder different than the one the computer was using as a backup. Once the folder was created, no issues.

I have no folder at all on my Time Capsule and I can save files to the root of the disk. The file labeled my-name Macbook at the top is the sparse bundle files containing my Time Machine backup and the file below is a screenshot JPG I just drag and dropped into the root of the disk. No folders.

I'm not sure why mine is different but once I made the folder it's been just fine. lol..I even tried to share my screen to let the Apple Sr. Tech Spt guy to read this but I think he got insulted that I started the conversation asking him to look at this thread. Needless to say, we didn't make it to this thread.
