I don't know what the deal is, but I can not connect two of my Macs together.
I have a dying macbook I need to backup roughly 300gb off of. I'd like to use simple file sharing if I could get it to work, but nothing is working.
Both on same wireless network. Both on same gateway and subnet and same IP network. Both can ping each other and the gateway.
On my iMac, file sharing will not turn on. In sharing settings whenever I click the checkmark to turn it on, it won't check.
On my macbook, file sharing is on. In network list It does not show my iMac listed at all.
My iMac can see the Macbook in the network list but won't connect. I've setup the same user as an administrator on both machines.
My pc laptop can't connect to either. Asks for a login and my login won't work.
Extremely frustrating. Not sure what to do next. Any ideas what I may be missing?
