When trying to send an E-mail from my I-pod touch, I get the following error message...

"The user name or password for smpt:xxxxxxx@smpt.comcast.net is incorrect."

Sooooo, I looked up my password in the accounts section and made sure that my name and password is correct. STILL cannot send. I CAN receive, however.

Any suggestions?

Try changing the SMTP username to xxxx@comcast.net, where xxxx is your username.

EDIT: I found this:
When asked to choose your e-mail account type, choose Other.
Fill in your name, then your entire comcast.net e-mail address (johnsmith@comcast.net) and password. You can also change your description of the account to identify the Comcast account amongst any others you might have.
The iPhone will then check and auto-configure itself for sending and receiving.
If this auto-configure doesn't work use the following settings.
Incoming Mail Server is mail.comcast.net
User name is just the first part of your address (johnsmith)
Password is the correct password for that specific account
Outgoing Mail Server is smtp.comcast.net
Advanced:
Use SSL ON
Authentication: Password
Delete from server based on your preferences
Server port 995

LOL!
Thanks for that, but in lieu of me posting my username, I put the xxxxx's in instead of my username.
The error message DOES state my username.
I had a good laugh at myself!

I answered your missive before you added the other information.

I cannot see where it asks me for the account type.

Please bear with me...I'm not very good at this stuff. Thanks for trying to help. I just don't understand it, it's worked great for a couple of years. I had to change my password on my desktop computer a few weeks ago, and am trying to match it up with this pod. Is there another place that I must change my password other than the "mail, contacts, calendar" heading?
