I have an iPhone 5 running iOS 6.1.2 on AT&T.

I've noticed I am unable to use my Apple ID for both Facetime and iMessage; if I am signed in to one of them, I'm unable to sign in to the other. I get in a loop of the phone repeatedly popping up a password entry screen for the Apple ID.

If I cancel the process and sign out of either, I can successfully sign in to the other. But no matter which I sign into first, I cannot sign in to both at the sametime. >__<

Any ideas on a fix? It's driving me nuts.

In the settings for each app do you have multiple entries...? I can be reached on Facetime with either my cell or Apple ID/ email add...
In messages I have "iMessage" ticked to "on" and under "Send & Receive" I have 2 Addresses listed, my cell no. and my Apple ID/ email add...

Yeah, for iMessage I have 4 addresses; my phone number, gmail, icloud and my me accounts.
Could that be why? :/

I dunno. :x I'll remove it and see if it fixes it,
EDIT: Nope, still does it. :(

My mom had an issue when there would be App Store updates for installed apps... A sister( not very tech savvy) created a new account for the initial setup. Later She was able to link it to an existing account... Then of course depending on which account she was logged into some of the apps wouldn't update because they were installed with a different account... To fix the errors/ popups I'd delete and reinstall the apps under the older/ original account. This could be a similar issue...? Different apps linked to different accounts/ logins... Apple seems to like one account one device..../ no user accounts. Not sure if its about security or simplicity?

"Me accounts?" Weren't those shut down...?

Nope. You can't create one but the existing ones still work, just like existing Mac.com still work as email addresses and apple IDs.

You should be able to log into both. If you can't then something is corrupted in your software and its screwing with password saving, unfortunately there's likely not an easy way to fix it.

Is it the same id you use in the stores. Is it working there. If not then try logging out of all three, hard reboot and then log back in and try downloading something free, if that works try logging into FaceTime and messages.

If that doesn't work you could try doing a reset all settings or even a full erase.

Nope it didn't work. :( I checked my moms phone (Only difference is iTunes account) and hers works fine. :/

Didn't work because it was the wrong choice. Network settings are only about cell, wifi and Bluetooth.

He should have said reset all settings but a restore will cover that along with other possibles

Well, I guess I get to look forward to a full restore tonight lol! >_< Hopefully this will fix it though.

I THINK I might have found out a fix.
First, I went in and signed into iMessages, but left Facetime logged out. I then went in Settings and turned off FaceTime altoghter. Afterwards I went to ensure iMessages was still signed in (Paranoia perhaps lol). Then I went back in and re-enabled FaceTime. The information was inserted back in, but Caller ID for Facetime was unchecked, so I selected my email address instead of phone. And both have oddly been working fine and stayed signed in since. No password requests at all.

I have zero clue why this works, but it does. I only figured it out thanks to obsessive behavior and inability to accept it was broken lol. Seem's upon reboot I have to do the steps again, but at least it works. Any idea why this might be? :/
