can't sync/activate new exchange ipod

    Just got my exchange from the Apple store. However, I need to activate it or whatever (it has the icon showing the sync cable). Anyway, I have iTunes 7.5 here at work, and had no problem syncing my old iTouch. However, nothing happens. It beeps when i plug the sync cable in, but nothing.

    Any suggestions?

    more details:

    - this computer always synced my iPod Touch I had prior to exchange
    - WinXP Sp2
    - iTunes 7.5
    - tried turning Touch on and off
    - tried resetting
    - tried rebooting pc
    - confirmed that the apple device service was running
    - tried all 4 USB ports

    no luck.

    try uninstalling itunes

    found the problem.
    I was using a third-party sync cable.
