So I'm trying to sync my iphone 3g with something, anything! I've tried the gmail but that doesn't work, i've tried with outlook and again that doesn't work... any ideas?

Okay, with gmail I read somewhere about using MSFT exchange, the problem is that my iphone is no longer online, i changed phones and providers already, so it can't verify anything... does that mean I can't sync with gmail unless I have a live account? That's pretty retarded...

Outlook, it asks if I want to merge, I say yes - i check outlook and nothing there...

All I know is I'm fed up this iTunes prison that confines users and I would never recommend an Apple product again - i've even stopped updating software because it wipes out all of my apps constantly... pain in friggin butt!

Thanks for any help

I see a lot of helpful tips LOL

okay, I've been playing around and I was able to partially sync with gmail by pulling the files out via csv... but for some reason new contacts don't sync - i'm not sure if it's a certain date? I just know by looking at some recent contacts they didn't get transferred over to my gmail...

Any ideas?

BTW: When you sync with itunes, where do the contacts go? I found the actual folder under the RUN command from another help post, but I don't see any icon on itunes that says 'contacts', is it 'hidden' in itunes somewhere? Is there an option to view them?

Thanks

There is always MobileMe, from Apple. It doesn't just sync contacts with your iPhone, but also mail, calenders and even photos. It isn't cheap with the lowest price subscription at $99, but it does a great job. Check it out at http://mobileme.com.

If you don't want to pay so much, take a look at some of this answers here: http://www.techyv.com/questions/iphone-does-not-sync-outlook-2003

Mobile Me is closed.

What version of iOS do you have on your 3G? Are you setting it to sync with iCloud? If so, iTunes may not be pulling in your contacts from your phone. Try changing it under settings. Let me know if you can't find it and I can be more specific. Don't have my phone with me.

thanks for the replies - i'll take a look at http://www.techyv.com/questions/ipho...c-outlook-2003 and see if that helps

I'm not on icloud and no longer with apple. My phone is not online anymore either, so I have to physically download the data - i know, i should have done this before switching phones, but I thought this whole process would be a lot simpler grrrr LOL

thanks anyway :)
