The main reason I upgraded to High Sierra is because I want to have my tagged people in photos synced with iOS. I'm on the current built of High Sierra and iOS 11 but the add faces option is nowhere to be found on my idevices or Mac. My already tagged photos are now synced but in the People album the option to add people or tag more photos isn't there and when I open get info for a photo the add to faces option isn't there. I haven't found a solution by Googling the problem either. Any ideas?

MacOS

You mean right clicking on the photo, clicking "get info", "add face" or click the "i" at the top right of the photo program, "add face"?

You can also click on people in the people section and then "Confirm additional faces" at the bottom.

iOS 11

Pick a photo with a face, swipe up on it, under the photo should be a picture of that person. Click on them and at the top add a name.

Once you get it started it figures out who is who surprisingly well. Every now and then you can give it an assist and with that info it could find a bunch you missed, or so I noticed.

None of those options show up for me on Mac or iOS. It’s like facial recognition is shut off system wide.

To verify, you do have this in HS?

Nope. I also checked my mom’s MacBook and iPhone with current OS builds and she does have that option.

I apologize (probably not your problem though) but I just noticed you can't click "Get info" from the thumb nail. If you do 'add faces' wont be there.

Assuming that isn't the issue how long ago did you update to iOS 11? I ask because depending on album size this could take a very long time. Keep you're phone plugged in, locked and on wifi (this is when it syncs) as long as you can. I've heard of 50,000 photo galleries taken weeks.

I updated to iOS 11 pretty much when it came out and updated to High Sierra about a week ago. I have a little less than 2,000 photos. My iPhone is always on a charger at night with the WiFi on. If this a syncing update issue I’m surprised I’ve never heard about it before.

I’ll often see “connect iPhone to charger and lock to sync people” at the bottom of the people folder in photos after imports and if I confirm a few faces.

Do you even have a people folder in the photos app?

I have a people folder but no options to add photos or people to it.

The people folder itself doesn’t have a “+” like it used to.

In the “all photos” album faces are identified as a face. If the face is unidentified you can click on it and then add a name at the top.

It’s working now. Guess it just took its sweet time setting up and syncing.
