Can't Transfer Songs from My iTunes from Another iPod

Hello I'm trying to transfer some songs from my friend's band onto my friend's iPod. However iTunes just opens up a window saying that I can either "Erase and Sync" or "Transfer Purchases From Another iPod". Is there a way to just open iTunes up and transfer my music to the other iPod?

Your friend's iPod is most likely auto sync, which basically only syncs with his computer. See if you can check the "manually manage my songs and videos" option. If you can't, what happened to sending them via email or IM client?

Manually manage songs and videos is in the Summary tab while the iPod is selected in the iTunes sidebar.
