Can't turn brightness all off

Have a new iMac. Wow btw is this thing fast...

Have wireless Apple keyboard. F1 dims the monitor but not to completely dark. Is it working right? If so, is there an alternative that keeps the computer running but turns the screen off?

You mean like Sleep mode?

AFAIK there isn't a built-in command that does it, but plenty of folks set up a hot corner to turn off the screen. I know, it's less than ideal. I'm not sure why MacBooks do it but iMacs don't.

goto energy tab and set it to turn screen OFF after a suitable time
