Hello all,

I recently turned off my Macbook to turn it back on, and I was faced with a screen that has a grey padlock symbol on it (as shown below). However, for some reason, I can't type anything in the field below it, unlike the image below. I know the password, I just can't type it in. But when I click on the CAPS Lock, the warning sign comes up in the field, but still nothing types.

Also, I use an external keyboard as my built-in keyboard is a bit faulty with the cmd, control and option/alt buttons on the left-side not working. Is it possible to do the PRAM and/or SMC reset with an external windows keyboard plugged in?

Thank you so much in advance for your help guys!
