Cant unmount or reinstall

I upadeed my tiger to 10.4.5, and it really messed up, i cant empy trash, cant launch applications.

So i decided to reinstall, and it failed clean install, i run disk utility to it does not work, it said "could not unmount the disk" (i'm running it from boot tiger cd)

anyone have a clue on this one?

Not even Safe Mode? Okay, well try repairing the hard drive from the OSX disks then. It has roughly the same effect as fsck.

Sorry, yeah, I just realised that.

It sounds like a failed hard drive. Umm, if you have another Mac, then try using Target Disk Mode to back up your data. Sorry, but I think you'll be needing a new drive.

folder,i'm going to wipe up the disk with linux and see if ti works, thx guys

use debian to remove partition and reinstall OSX, it works

Nice work. Just out of interest, is the SMART status verified in Disk Utility?
