Cant unmount or reinstall

I upadeed my tiger to 10.4.5, and it really messed up, i cant empy trash, cant launch applications.

So i decided to reinstall, and it failed clean install, i run disk utility to it does not work, it said "could not unmount the disk" (i'm running it from boot tiger cd)

anyone have a clue on this one?

Not even Safe Mode? Okay, well try repairing the hard drive from the OSX disks then. It has roughly the same effect as fsck. 🙂

Sorry, yeah, I just realised that. 😱

It sounds like a failed hard drive. Umm, if you have another Mac, then try using Target Disk Mode to back up your data. Sorry, but I think you'll be needing a new drive. 🙁

use debian to remove partition and reinstall OSX, it works 😛

Nice work. Just out of interest, is the SMART status verified in Disk Utility? 🙂
