I wonder whether the HDD has some bad sectors? You could format and zero out the drive before installing - that will take ages and there's no guarantees.

You know any tool like MHDD or Victoria on ppc?) I wanted to zero whole HDD, just dunno how to do it here.
Anyway I’ve downloaded dmg2img and now burning tiger to dvd under windows. Hope it will allow me to install os.

When you begin the installer you start Disk Utility from the menu and format/erase from there.
Hurray! OS X was installed from dvd and I already updated to 10.4.11. Now to software, games, and retro games like Myst or System Shock.
Guys, can you please also navigate me to a proper guide how to run classic apps on tiger? On previous tiger install I had smth called OS 9 classic environment. But on clean tiger I don’t have it.
I’m in need for a proper guide what to do, to return this support 🙂 I already saw different stuff like you need original OS 9 cd or I need to copy system folder from older Mac with OS 9. Maybe there is some strait-forward way like apple all-ready uploaded free installation of classic environment somewhere.
I also saw that usually you’ll have version 9.0 but it’s good to update classics to 9.1 or 9.2…
