iPhone Can’t update from 11.3 directly to 12?

I’ve kept my iPhone SE on IOS 11.3. Today when connecting to iTunes to upgrade to IOS 12, iTunes instead is telling me my upgrade path is to 11.4.1. Is 11.4.1 required before going to 12?

Did you update iTunes? A new version was released a day or so ago.

I may be wrong but I believe iOS updates are not cumulative. I have had to do the same thing with my wife's phone when she fell behind with updates.

Thanks guys, both were needed. iTunes update, which then indicated iPhone SE update to 11.4.1 followed immediately by update to 12. So looks good.
