chscag macrumors 601 Sep 17, 2018 #3 I may be wrong but I believe iOS updates are not cumulative. I have had to do the same thing with my wife's phone when she fell behind with updates.

Thanks guys, both were needed. iTunes update, which then indicated iPhone SE update to 11.4.1 followed immediately by update to 12. So looks good.
