Can't update phone - Not eligible for requested build?

Hello all,

I want to upgrade my iphone to 4.3.5, but when I try to do so I get an error that says "Not eligible for requested build". What does that mean? How do I get past this?

I can't even restore it to factory settings. Any help?

It really depends on what you've done to the device. Like if it has iPad base band you can only update to a custom build.
