Not sure if I want to bother a 3rd time or just deal. I will keep an eye on the battery life, before I was only getting about 50% advertised capacity and was losing charge overnight so there was definitely a technical problem. This time it’s mostly superficial problems.

i completely understand. different situation, but similar sentiment here. not sure a 3rd case/set would improve my battery case issue. i've run enough tests to know that if i drain my AirPods a significant level (70+%) i can get Apple's specified case capacity/hours.

I'm new to AirPods and got my AirPods with wireless charging a week ago, so I'm not certain if this is normal behavior. Do the AirPods actually turn off completely if not used?

I put my 100% charged AirPods and Case in a drawer on Friday and didn't touch them all weekend. It's now Monday and I just checked and the Case is at 72% (AirPods at 100%).

Is it normal behavior for the case to lose charge if they aren't being used or do I have a bad Case as well?

When you put the airpods back in it's charging case, it should be turned off. If it's out of the case and you aren't wearing them it's still connected.

That's the behavior I would expect. My AirPods were in the case all weekend. Do yours lose charge in this "off" state?

this weekend was the first time where i was able to test stand by usage since i don't use my Airpods much on weekends (first weekend, i did because they were new and i wanted to figure out the battery drain issue for charging).

anyway, i'm finding that mine are losing some, but not nearly what you are reporting. i have witnessed everything from 0-2% over 10-14 hours of zero usage (case drops, AirPods stay at 100%), in another instance where they sat for ~20 hours, i saw a 3% drop. so i'm projecting up to 4% every day? if that is right, you shouldn't have seen so much. i think something is wrong and i would contact apple. the wireless charging case is in higher demand, and i don't know if you could get an immediate swap if you have an Apple store nearby

UPDATE: very odd...after typing that, i experienced an almost 10% drop in less than 2 hours of my Airpods sitting at 100% in a case with it closed and supposedly sitting idle. (i can verify this by swapping to the battery widget and with nothing showing up, it tells me that the case/airpods are at least not active in the BT world)

I ran a test overnight last night and my AirPods didn't lose any power, so it appeared to work correctly overnight.

per my Sr. Advisor's advice. i swapped out and received my 3rd set of 2nd Generation Airpods today. hopefully, the 3rd time will be the charm. last night, i saw overnight a drop from 96 to 93%. and then before taking this set into the apple store (with no use in between), just 3 hours later, it was at 90% (i did not open the case in between these 3 hours)

That doesn’t seem good?

no, not good at all. from what i understand, when the case is closed and the AirPods are topped off to 100%, drain should be minimal (ie, 0-1% or maybe 2% max in 1 day)

we'll see how this third set does. i charged them to 100% yesterday evening, and was disappointed to see the case at 95% this morning. however, i am going to reserve judgement because i did notice that overnight that the Airpods got updated to the latest firmware 1A671 (from 1A667). so i'm hoping that at least partially explain the discharge since i'm sure the upgrade of firmware and communication with my phone overnight to do the update would require power.

stay tuned. i'd love to see some other numbers from others (both overnight, or extended idle time, and what kind of recharge capacity your case is showing, and whether it depends on how depleted your AirPods were when recharging)
