After I polish my stainless steel S3 with a cape cod cloth and buff dry with a microfiber, is it advisable to then rinse with water and pat dry?

It’s absolutely not necessary at all to rinse the Apple Watch off. A dry microfiber cloth should be more than enough to remove any excess oil. I have polished my Apple Watch stainless model multiple times and never had to wash it off. If you feel like you need to wash it off, then you’re using way too much of the solution from the cloth, you only use a very minimal amount to remove any scratches.

Thanks for the info. Another question, if im looking to remove a prominent scratch, should i polish in the direction of the scratch or does it not matter and polish normally (back and forth)?

I attached a pic of the scratch im looking to remove. Scratch is right below button. I think it’s more superficial than anything and not deep.

I don't think it matters much but I would go back and forth plus circular motions.

That said if the scratch is deep enough to feel with your fingernail then polishing probably won't remove it. Though it might make it less visible.

I scuffed my iPhone X and ordered a Cape Cod cloth to polish it. Glad I read this.

X2 never needed to rinse the watch after using cape cod cloths.
