Sorry reposting this pic but wanted to talk Cape Cod and SS owners.
Got my AW5 on Saturday, my first SS after 2 SBSS (AW3 and 4)... And w/o a surprise I have my first scratch on.
Cape Cod users, how often do you polish your watch? Once a month, a quarter...? I won't be a polish slave for sure.

This is going to happen, so just learn to enjoy it. I wouldn't polish it more than once every 2 months if you have to.

I find the preoccupation with scratching difficult to understand. My SS traditional watches have scratches. I anticipate many of the Apple Watch models will scratch. I agree with Ethan. The watch is supposed to bring joy. Not stress.

Also people need to decide on their priorities for the watch. If being bothered by scratches is high on the list, then traditional SS might not be a good choice. Granted, it mates well with a larger range of bands, but one cannot have everything. There are trade-offs to every purchase decision. Accept that and enjoy your tech.

I faced the trade-off when I ordered the latest iPhone Pro Max. I needed the larger screen, so I accepted the increased weight.

Keep in mind, Cape Cod is a abrasive cloth, you don’t want to overuse it, and you certainly don’t want to come in contact with a display, which can cause a reaction with the Oleophobic coating. That said, being that you own the 316 L stainless Apple Watch, you might as well regularly expect hairline scratches like this all the time, there’s nothing you can do to prevent that, unless you use a bumper cover around the casing, which would not be my suggestion.

Anyways, as far as the polishing is concerned, it’s up to you how much you plan on doing that, but being you will be wearing this on a daily basis, that would be quite a chore to keep up with.
