Hey guys,

Was just wondering can iMovie record a live stream from a firewire input?

I have a Canopus Twinpact 100 and I'm planning on doing to recording of my screen as I play with audio and designed based interfaces I've created.

I'm going to connect the iMac (using an adapter) to the RGB input on the device. . .then use firewire out of the canopus into an iMac that will be used to record my own screen.

Is this possible in iMovie?

Thanks a lot. 🙂

Firewire will not give you more than 720 x 576, and your Mac surely has a bigger resolution. It would be easier to use screen recording software, Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) has it built into QuickTime X.

Hi.

The iMac has a screen resolution of 1680x1050 and even using software like iShowU HD Pro the iMac can't cope with recording 720p 30FPS. I need an exact recording of the screen with no jerky movement - that's why I need the external card 🙁
