Capture video on FCP from JVC 100

Hi....Struggling to capture video from the JVC HDV camera. Can anyone help with verifying that my settings are proper? I have a G5 with fcp 5.1 . did easy set-up for hdv..camera set for hdv output...i have deck control....read time code....set in and out points. camera pre-rolls properly then just plays the tape......no video is captured.....
any help is appreciated..

Have you tried deleting FCP's preferences?
