Can I capture Canon's 24F from an XH-A1 using FCE 3.5?

I was led to believe that I could because the 24F mode is still actually recording 60i... just simulating a 24p look by repeating frames.

Yes? No?

If not, will FCP capture it?

Final cut pro will for sure, but I don't know about Express. Does Express have an easy setup? If it does, you can choose HDV1080p24 to use 24F.

Under FCE's Easy Setup, it has 720p30 and 1080i60 & 50...

Are there any 3rd party apps designed only for capturing that would possibly have more flexibility?

if i just capture it 60i... will it capture with the pulldown?

so i can edit it 60i... but just have repeated frames?

obviously i can't do anything for the whole progressive issue if that's the case, but at least i can get it down to 24fps...

i'll just have to start experimenting... that's the only real answer here.

Hey swwack91, how'd your experimentation go? I have FCE 3.5 HD also and just got a Canon XH-A1 a couple weeks ago. I'd like to record and work with 24f too, but if that means I can't use FCE, then i'll stick with recording 60i.

I think I'd like to still worth with 60i just for the sake of going the easier route. I'm pretty new to all this. I don't even really know what pull down is.
