Got the PIE converter installed over the weekend - it was certainly not plug and play! But it works. I've never really used the radio in the truck as I always play my own music - my car speakers are way better..

Ordered the Panavise bracket and coincidentally found a "gripmatic" holder in the basement while looking for something else. It appears to have the correct mounting pattern so fingers crossed that it works.

That's interesting. It looks like it could be a good product, but know that whenever these companies make a product page on a website, that increases the overhead costs significantly. I bet you could find something very comparable or exactly the same on amazon or ebay for a lot less money.

I don't really understand what you mean when you say "these companies make a product page on a website, that increases the overhead costs significantly".

What company nowadays doesn't have a website and what product/software etc company doesn't sell their products on their own website? Lol! I don't really think they increase the price of their products because they have a website.

I believe I failed to properly communicate what I meant to convey. I meant to say that when a company builds a fancy website, (which costs money (albeit not very much)) they also have the luxury of being able to upcharge without competition pounding on their listing from above and below, like you might find on amazon/ebay. Competition fuels good pricing, and when there is no other competition in sight, (on a company's page) any price might seem justifiable. However, on amazon, if you are selling the same car mount as the ten other people who bought the same thing from the same Chinese supplier, you HAVE to compete with the price.

The car mount that was mentioned earlier that I was referencing is readily available on amazon from other competitors who are not bloating their prices. I'm just recommending that if you like the mount that is on the website ($25) you can probably find the exact same thing with a different company logo slapped onto it on amazon for less than $10.

OTOH, sometimes wading through 100s of similar, but not quite the same items, some with good reviews, some with bad…. can be exhausting and it's easier to buy from a reputable source that will stand behind their product. I'm all for saving money and buy on Amazon all the time, but too many options is not always good.

That said, we got the final piece installed last night. Just have to pretty up the cables and take a pic :)
