Hi. Here's my situation, i have a "Photos" folder with a lot of sub folders.
I want to back up everything. THEN, delete all folders older than 2016, and continue adding folders for future projects. I want it to sync/backup to continue but without deleting the folders I deleted from the main drive on the target drive.

Basically, I'm trying to create space on my first drive.

Do you already use Time Machine and if so, how much free space is on the volume where backups are stored?

Yes. I already use time machine. But I'm not trying to back up time machine. Rather another folder.
Scenario is like this

Drive A: Folder 1, 2, 3
I want to "backup/sync" all those to Drive B.

Now, because Drive A is only 1 TB, I need to delete Folder 1 and 2. and continue with folder 4 and 5.

I want Drive B to then have folders 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Drive B will be my "archive" folder with 6 TB.

I would get the app Carbon Copy Cloner to do this. Set it up to copy (clone) the Photos folder from drive A to B, then in the options choose this setting. So when you remove some folders from A, they will stay on B.
