I downloaded the Carbonite trial and then decided I didn't want it. I deleted the files and thought that was it. However, since the deletion I have been getting a "Carbonite configuation error" several times a day. I guess there are remnants of Carbonite still on the computer and it's trying to connect with Carbonite central. I have searched for those remnants but I can't find anything. The error message is benign but quite annoying. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have the 24" iMac with Snow Leopard.

Thanks. I deleted the two files mentioned and am waiting to see if the problem is resolved.

If you find the problem still persists (i doubt you will), Lingon might be able to help track it down. It pointed me to the two files mentioned in that article and deleting them did the trick for me. It's a useful utility.

The link provided is not active. Can you tell me where those 2 files are to delete? The Carbonite error message is making me crazy.
Thanks

As I mentioned above, try Lingon. This will show you he launchd files on your system. Carbonite creates two of them. I can't remember their names specifically, it was so long ago, but they should be obvious with 'carbonite' in the name.

Delete both of them and your annoying messages should be history.

You need to erase the following folders and files:

Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/Carbonite
.../Library/Contextual Menu Items/CarboniteCMM.bundle
.../Library/PreferencePanes/Carbonite.prefpane
.../Library/LaunchAgents/com.carbonite.launchd.carbonitealerts.plist
.../Library/LaunchAgents/com.carbonite.launchd.carbonitestatus.plist
.../Librar/LaunchDaemons/com.carbonite.launchd.carbonitedaemon.plist

After you do this, restart. You should be all set.

I don't have these files...

I am using OSX. I went to my library folder and did not find any of these files. Any other suggestions on how I can get rid of the Carbonite Config. Error?

Thanks.
