Went to Apple Store today to pick up a leather case and the rep there told me I should pay with Apple Pay and since I haven't tried it yet, I obliged. When I took a pic of my credit card, however, Apple Pay said that the card was unsupported. Wut. Same card I use for the App Store. Isn't the app really only storing the card info to send over NFC? Why would there be restrictions? Smh.

The card is an Amex btw.

No, the app isn't storing the card info.

Apple Pay is an implementation of the relatively new "EMV Tokenization" payment method that happens to use NFC as the phone to terminal link.

EMV Tokenization *requires* that the bank at the other end have implemented the systems necessary to support the new tokenization process. If they haven't, it won't work.

So call up your bank and ask when they'll support it.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks. Will do.

I have an AMEX serve card from ISIS and it's not working with Apple Pay. But my regular AMEX is fine.

I also have an AMEX Serve card (not through Softcard, directly from AMEX), and it's also not supported. That doesn't entirely surprise me as it's a prepaid card, not a card with a line of credit.

Ok yeah mine was the Softcard one as well. Good to know I wasn't the only one lol. Probably because my card still says ISIS :/...

Kidding.
