From what was explained to me, we have an agreement with o2 to look after cpwo2 customers while existing iphone customer have to go direct to o2, although like you explained I can't see any reason why it wouldn't work the other way that you suggested as well, it's just that it would be quicker and more convenient buying from CPW.

I've worked for CPW for 10 years so I know what you mean about the reputation of the company changing from the early years, but they've realised this and are trying to change back. ( In the stores I've managed it has never changed - funnily enough we manage to hit our targets by looking after customers as much as we can!) :)

Are CPW o2 going to bill iPhone customers? If so, I can see why there would be an agreement to divide up the customers as stated. If not, then whilst I can see why CPW would want to get their own customers to buy the device from them before going elsewhere, it needs to be expressed as a preference rather than something that is mandatory.

Just to let you all know the CPW warehouse over the weekend received a quantity of 8gb 3g iphones and a quantity of demo 3g iphones.

Don't worry that theres no 16gb ones yet because I'm sure they'll be more deliveries over the next few days. :)

Carphone Warehouse's warehouse?

You know what - I think I might have found a way of working out the stock split for O2 and potentially CW -

For O2 at least, they have a stock database that lists how many and where an individual handset is. As soon as (if it isn't on there already) the iPhone 3G gets added on, we should know.

Seeing as the O2 database lists handsets within O2 but not at any actual store, this would be an early way of seeing stock levels, and and what percentage of white 16GB there might be, as well as the 16GB to 8GB stock levels.

Seeing as you're a manager Merlinwiz, you should be able to get some rough figures ;)

I'm not sure if the databases would track stock deliveries prior to receiving them, if they did, it would show how many each store was getting prior to Friday. Very useful information!!

Yeah the central warehouse for CPW.

As much as I'd like to comment on actual quantities I can't!

But it wouldn't be hard to work out that if the o2 website sold out in a few hours... ;)

Great so the chance of gettin a 16gb from CPW is zippo

I have a general question relating to the order/approval process between CPW and O2, and noticing an O2 manager being involved in the thread I thought you might be able to advise.

Essentially I 'pre-ordered' the 16GB around noon today. After the whole day without the order status moving on, I decided to call this evening only to be told the network (O2) had declined the order.

I've had this before when starting a new contract, despite having had contracts with all of the major carriers over the years and never having missed a payment etc. I believe it's because I'm a UK resident as opposed to citizen (lived here 12 years and legally resident).

Speaking to CPW customer services earlier they seemed unwilling to do anything. In the past the store has simply called the network while I waited and confirmed my identity (with passport, utility bills, etc. in hand). Is it not possible for them to do the same this time around with O2?

My fear now is that I've effectively 'lost my place' in the queue despite being one of the earliest orders, and I fear I may go and queue at O2 on Friday (for who KNOWS how long) only to be told the same in person.

Any advice is much appreciated as I seem to be stuck here.

Thanks in advance,

Tom
