Weird, I assume my number is in the throws of being transferred (I was told Monday) because when I log in to my account, I don't now see my iPhone account but my old O2 account I had last year, before transferring over to T-mobile!
I have a feeling that our problems are nothing to do with CPW, but are actually the result of O2's inefficiency. I bought from the Apple Store on launch night and, as I have mentioned before, I was unable to port at the time of activation because of a computer glitch. I then had to wait until Monday morning to speak to customer services. They promised that my number would transfer on Friday. Guess what?

That's right: Nothing at all!

So now I have to wait until Monday to try again. I'm sorry to say that O2 are totally useless.

Incidentally, do they always send a text to confirm when the port is to take place, because I've received nothing?

No text on porting over for me (voda -> O2). SMS stopped working then started again on Friday. I'm sure they'll get you sorted on O2. Well, fingers crossed anyway.

Now I wish EDGE was more sorted than it is.

O2 did explain to me that this would happen after the port. Now I just need the port to go through, hopefully tomorrow!

Seemed you had more info than me. It was fixed within a couple of hours but not before me moaning about O2 to anyone who would listen.

It is for reasons like this these companies should make sure everyone knows the full details. It's bad for customer satisfaction (and PR).

I think all phone networks suck, so why did I expect anything else?

O2 could easily redeem themselves by sorting EDGE now. It's not like I live out in the sticks.

Back to your point. Let's hope they sort you out tomorrow.

OK. Last wednesday after I activated my iPhone using the generic CPW/O2 customer PAC-equivalent I received an email from the iTunes store saying my existing number would be transferred in "up to 5 business days".

Have existing CPW O2 customers who have already ported their old numbers always received a further message sometime before the port actually takes place giving more info about when that event was going to happen?

My 5 business days were up today and still no port or any port-related contact from O2.

When I rang them they couldn't find any records of my temporary number even though they could see from Caller ID that I was actually calling from it!

Eventually the friendly and helpful scottish person that I was speaking to discovered that I was expecting to port from CPW. She said that there had been a "glitch" on Friday which had injected two extra days into the porting process for CPW customers. So I can expect to port on Friday. Porting apparently happens twice a day - at 0900 and 1700. And I might need to switch the iPhone off and on again to make it work. She said that I was lucky because if I had registered my iPhone any later I would have to wait until after the weekend!

Does this extra two days glitch story chime with anyone else's experience?

I take it all back [well, most of it anyway]. My number ported today just as O2 said. The whole process from my old service stopping to the new one being fully available took 15 minutes.
