Since I upgraded to iOS 16 my car (2022 992) no longer connects to CarPlay. Restarting phone or infotainment, deleting profile and re-pairing don’t do the trick. Phone is recognized by car as BT device, CarPlay pairing has happened but it won’t come up.
Anybody else experiencing the same?

YES! My F-150 truck no longers connects CarPlay to with my phone. The phone still connects, but not CarPlay. I deleted the truck from the phone and removced the phone in the truck several times. I reboot my phone and even factory reset the radio in my truck. Nothing fixes it. I knew I should have not upgraded.

CarPlay doesn’t work wireless or wired.

2021 Accord. iOS 16.0.2 and iPhone 13 PM. No issues with wireless CarPlay. It connects within a few seconds.

14Pro with PB 2 and it just cycles the connecting and charging. Doesn't work. One time I was able to get it to go after shutting both the car and phone off but siri wouldn't work.

My iPhone 12 Pro Max won’t connect wirelessly to CarPlay after iOS 16 update. Have updated to 16.0.2 and no fix. Have removed from car (VW Arteon) and phone and re-paired. I’m asked whether to enable wireless CarPlay, which I select but it doesn’t work; watching the Bluetooth which initially connects, after about 10 seconds of attempting to connect CarPlay (wireless) fails and Bluetooth connection disconnects.

USB works most of the time, but even that has become flaky on occasion.

Very frustrating!

My issue has been resolved: I was running a VPN in the background. Apparently with iOS 16 CarPlay will not connect when a VPN is used on the phone. I disabled the VPN and both wireless and wired CarPlay connect again with no issues.
Hence, for those of you, who have issues and run a VPN, disable it and see if that helps!

Thanks for your info @Frankfurt did you need to uninstall the VPN, or just turn it off? I have a VPN installed but it is not running, and still can’t connect wirelessly.

Did you get this working if not I’m going to hold off on updating

How the hell is it possible that CarPlay on my Nissan - which has been hell for 3+ years - works flawlessly with iOS 16 (14 Pro)... Same wife Honda and Acura <> iPhone 13 Pro.
My guess - which could be wrong - is the communication implementation by Porsche (who has independent infotainment from VWAG/VW Group). I presume it will be sorted within a couple of weeks, and/or iOS 16.1.

This was my problem too. Which VPN are you running? I am using ExpressVPN. I just opened a ticket with their support.

One other thing I learned during troubleshooting. Don't name your phone "iPhone" sometimes this confuses radios because many people name their phones "iPhone".

Same: ExpressVPN. To many issues lately with a personal VPN: takes significant bandwidth from my home Gigabit WiFi; not working with more and more apps - and now CarPlay. Finding myself needing to switch it off more often. Won't renew subscription probably and live without.

I have the same problem with a 14 Pro Max.

It works fine with wife's XR.

Holy crap...what the hell does one have to do with the other?

That's just stupid.

I also have ExpressVPN. I will test your fix shortly.

CONFIRMED!!

If I connect with ExpressVPN on, CarPlay didn't work. If I connect with it off, it does work. Who would have guessed?

Also, once connected, if I turn ExperessVPN on, then CarPlay still works. Kind of. The screen is on, but music won't play.

I have discovered this is a known issue with the Network Protection option. Turn that off and CarPlay works with ExpressVPN on.

Thanks for the tip!!

I will test this before the weekend. I use NordVPN.

Who does Apple have working in QA? Between iOS 16.0.x and 16.1 issues, it seems like clowns and morons.

Working fine wired (2021 Ford Ranger) and wirelessly (wife's 2022 Ford Edge)... iOS 16 CarPlay is functioning without issue or incident for me.

The Ranger, running SYNC3 shows "SYNC3" in the CarPlay settings... and the Edge, running SYNC4 actually shows "EDGE" so no more confusion for us...

I've removed my VPN (Tunnel Bear), reset all network settings and I still cannot connect wirelessly. iPhone 12 Pro max, iOS 16.0.2. Anyone else still the same?
