Carplay calendar notification removal?

Does anyone know how to remove the calendar notification on the bottom right of my carplay screen? I thought I correctly took the app of of carplay, but it pretty much stays on all the time showing my next appt.

thanks in advance for any thoughts!
 
The only other thing I could think of is on the iPhone in Settings -> Notifications -> Calendar -> Show in CarPlay (switch this off)?
