Before I updated to iOS 14.2 and iPhone 12 everything worked fine on my iPhone XS and my 2016 Mazda CX-5.

Initially I could not use the commander knob, but read turning off assistive touch would resolve, which it did for that issue.

But its still completely unusable! Most apps launch to back screens (iHeart Radio, Stitcher) and the rest if they launch are glitchy, with artifacts and various stages of unresponsiveness, basically its unusable.

I am wishing I never got this new phone now, as things that worked fine now are broken. Is this just me? Anyone else experiencing similar? Is it iOS 14.2? The iPhone 12? A combo of both?

Thank you.

Did you try removing and re-pairing your phone to your car? Did you restore your new phone from an old backup? Have you tried a different cable?
