CarPlay crashes hard during phone calls

I just got a 2017 Ford Fusion Energi and when I make calls using CarPlay the whole system seems to crash and becomes unresponsive, to the point where I have to turn the car off and back on again to connect my phone. I also notice that it crashes and reloads CarPlay fairly often when I'm not even interacting with it. I'm not sure if it's my phone or the car, but I was wondering if anyone else has noticed that on any of the CarPlay equipped Ford's? I have done a full restore and setup as a new phone, same thing is happening...

I think your issue should be taken up with Ford. Hopefully an update will be coming soon!

I would start by making sure both your phone and car's head unit have the most up to date firmware/software. Also have you tried a different lightning cable to make sure the one you are using doesn't have an issue? Other than that you will probably need to talk to the Ford Service department like the others mentioned.
