I’m looking for a cradle-like docking solution that I can drop my iPhone into, push down to insert the lightning connector and have my iPhone connect to CarPlay.
It seems like a really obvious solution if one doesn’t have wireless CarPlay available.

How do you manage yours ? Have you seen something similar ?

I highly recommend the ProClip in the link above. I use those mounts for all my cars. Very clean look and most importantly very secure to the dashboard. They cost what they do for good reason. Best I’ve ever used and I’ve tried a lot over the years. I’d rather spend extra one time on a good solution than buy a bunch of crap that fails over time. Great customer service too.

Are you a DIYer?

I built a dock for one of my cars that does not have a storage place or cupholder for a phone to sit. I would place it on the passenger side seat, and it would slide and go flying when going around turns sometimes, so I wanted to come up with another solution.

I also wanted a place to put a coffee cup.

I used an existing "wedge" style cupholder than had a small slot large enough for a non-plus sized iPhone and installed a lighting cable into it.

It work perfectly as a iPhone dock, but not so good as a cup holder due to the holder being too shallow. I had a full Venti Latte from Starbucks that ended up in the floorboard carpet due to the cup holder sucking.

I ended up permanently attaching an empty Starbucks cup onto the cupholder to hold my coffee cups.

While the above solution probably doesn't pertain to your needs, if you cannot find the exact solution that you are looking for, maybe you can modify existing solutions to achieve what you are trying to do.

There's a thread here about a device that plugs into your cars USB port, and makes it wireless.
The thread is very long, I haven't looked too deeply into it. but it looks interesting, and seems to work
**I haven't looked further, because I live in NYC, and don't have a car, so my only car play experience is rentals when I travel.

you could then get a Qi pad that either plugs into either another USB port in your car, or an adapter that goes into your cigarette lighter.
kinda gives you the best of both worlds,
for quick trips you can leave the phone in your pocket.
for longer trips, you could set the phone on the charge pad
