So I can’t seem to find anything specific online, but will these be compatible with current setups for CarPlay? I have a brand new VW, but I’m unable to do CarPlay through the wireless charge pad installed in my car at current. It also came with regular USBs for CarPlay and not USB C. Are we honestly going to have to use a dongle for our vehicles....

It will work just fine, like all the other iOS 14 iPhones. And read your manual...VW’s don’t have wireless CarPlay

Why would Apple take away CarPlay on the new phones? CarPlay is part of iOS doesn’t matter which iphone you have. Mostly cars with wireless charger are not for CarPlay you need to connect lightning cable to USB port.

Most vehicles that have the charging pad in it don’t offer wireless CarPlay. You’ll just need to use a regular usb to lightning cable. Have you not had an iPhone before? Most people just have these laying around from older phones.

Yep. I have a wireless charging pad in my car but no wireless CarPlay. So you just have to use a cable.

Well it is not working for me.
Kia stonic is the car.
Android auto worked whiteout problem.
iPhone 12 pro not so much.
Tries different cabels, no luck.
iPod part starts Up instead.
I don't know what else to do.

I have a new Kia and my iPhone 12 Pro works just fine. How new is the car? I’d refer to the user manual if I were you. Maybe you have to enable it or something.

From your signature you have an iPhone 7 so you should have plenty of USB-A to lightning cables laying around. Leave the iPhone 12 USB-C cable in the box and use what you already have.

I don’t have a Kia, but try this:

  1. Using your infotainment controls select SETUP – PHONE PROJECTION or CONNECTIVITY
  2. Select ENABLE APPLE CARPLAY
  3. If any prompts display on the screen, select OK
  4. Connect your Apple phone via a lightning cable and USB port

PHONE PROJECTION can't be accessed when it don't recognize the phone.

It's from this summer.
Googled but can't find anything
You must be using google from the 90's. Kia Stonic doesn't support Carplay.

Dude. Go to bed again.

What happens when you plug in the iPhone? Is CarPlay enabled in the car's settings? You have to usually enable Android Auto and CarPlay individually.
I only get music.
I think I did. Gonna check the settings in car again.

Edit
You're were right. I missed to activate it in car settings.
My bad.

Thx tho

My VW does. 2019 Transporter.
ok, clarification, VW's sold in the UNITED STATES don't have wireless carplay. I don't know what country you live in but I know for a fact the Transporter is not sold in the US and I personally have only seen them in the UK. Though I'm sure they're all over the EU

My Honda Clarity PHEV works perfectly with the 12 Pro, 11, Xr and XS Max using wired CarPlay.
Plus I get a charge thru the wired connection.
