Carplay & Watch Notification

Previous to iOS 17, when I was connected to CarPlay, if I got a text it would not come through on my watch as well as the on screen pop up. I missed a number of texts because of this as I didn't always see the temporary pop-up. Now, I am also getting alerted on my watch AND the pop-up which is great! Is this a new feature or was my watch/CarPlay just not working properly before (or maybe a setting got reset)?

Cant say i've noticed on the new iOS but i was the same on the old one, never got notifications on my watch if CarPlay was running.

It took a few times for me to notice it as I'm so used to getting notifications on my watch outside of the car that it didn't register in my brain as being different. I had some issues with watch notifications a while back so I was never sure if I was supposed to be getting the notifications on the watch while in carplay mode or not. Either way, I'm happy about it!
