Has anyone else who has upgraded to iOS 13 had an issue where you'd plug your phone in to your car, and it starts charging, but CarPlay doesn't load on the head unit? Sometimes it'll randomly activate a few minutes later, sometimes instantly, and sometimes never. Once it actually activates it is solid and works for long trips. It's very annoying.

If I restart my phone and plug it back in after the car is on, it usually loads up instantly.

Exact same issue in my GMC

Same issue. I was contacted by a Senior tech person at apple and hopefully they are working to resolve this problem. Someone said the new beta improves it but haven't tried.

I am having the same issue in my Nissan Murano with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. It will load sometimes, other times it won't load at all. When it does load sometimes it is solid and other times the display and audio will be slow and stutter.

The Nissan worked fine with my iPhone XS Max and it still works with my son's iPhone 7. The frustrating part is CarPlay works perfectly with my 2016 Honda Accord and my iPhone 11 Pro Max. I am not sure if it is a iOS 13 issue or an iPhone 11 Pro Max issue or a Nissan head unit issue.

I too had no issues with the XS on 13.1.2 in my GMC. So we have Nissan, Chevy, GMC, Honda, BMW and Audi with issues with the 11 and car play. I cant imagine its a car manufacture issue. Its definitely software related. Today I plugged in the music played over the iPhone and not the stereo.

Same thing on my Chevy Traverse. So frustrating. I've found that starting the car and waiting two minutes or so before plugging my phone seems to work.

Several threads already on this issue.

Some experiencing what you are, myself included and others having bluetooth issues.

Had no issue with my XS Max on 13. 11 'Pro' Max has issues.

2018 Chevy Malibu

I spend a lot of time in my car travelling to and from work and this seriously is a pain.

No issue (Xs Max, iOS 13.1.2) on either my wife's 2019 Ford Edge w/Sync 3 or my 2010 Mazda MX-5 with aftermarket Alpine ILX-107 ... works for me, first time, every time.

Ever since I got my iPhone 11 Pro with iOS 13 (currently on 13.1.3) I have been consistently having to physically reconnect my phone to my USB port on my car just to CarPlay will function.

I drive a 2016 Chevy Malibu with the Chevy MyLink radio and I have contacted my dealer and with Chevrolet's infotainment customer service and still have had no luck with being able to have my vehicle recognize CarPlay. Everything passes diagnostics on the car and it is running Chevy's latest software. I have tried with brand new OEM Apple USB to Lightning cables and third party cables and the same result occurs. I have reset the radio in the car many times as well and it still inconsistently connect.

For those unfamiliar with Chevy's MyLink system, it has an input called "Projection" which changes over to CarPlay or Android Auto when a compatible device is connected and I have to plug in my phone sometimes 4-5 times to get any audio or information to show on the screen

I have hard reset my phone, soft reset my phone, factory restored my phone MANY times.

I never had any issues with my previous iPhone X with the same cables connecting to this vehicle. I am just unsure as to mark it up to a defective iPhone, iOS 13 glitches, or car stereo defective at this point.

I tried a potential workaround from the Apple Discussion group and so far it has worked, but only tried a few times. I purchased a USB C female to USB adapter and used the cable that came with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Simple idea, but seems to be working for some reason. I purchased this adapter from amazon:

I will report back in the next few days if it is still working.

Hi everyone,

I posted this in another thread too. Just thought I give everyone an update. I spent about an hour on the phone with an Apple tech yesterday. They installed two diagnostic profiles on my phone and I was able to recreate the issue several times for them and they where able to log it. Hopefully they will get to the bottom of it. After all this troubleshooting I really think the software in the phone is making the stereo forget the Apple Car play connection. I hope its a simple fix.

If its software then why would it work for some phones but not for others. Its the same software on every phone isn't it?

I wanted to provide an update for the workaround I have been using for a few days. As I stated earlier in this thread, I purchased a USB C (female) to USB adapter and have been using it with the Lightning to USB C cable that came with my iPhone 11 Pro Max. So far, this workaround has been working perfectly on my 2018 Nissan Murano. Prior to this workaround, when I was using an Apple branded Lightning to USB cable, it was only working about 10% of the time. I am happy for now and hope that a software fix is coming.

I have tried this as well. I had an external hard drive that used the same kind of adapter for USB A to USB C (female) and used an Insignia branded USB C to lightning cable and it works more consistently on my CarPlay receiver in my Chevy Malibu. Still, on occasion it has a hiccup but it is WAY more consistent when it comes to connecting to CarPlay instead of just the iPod functionality or disconnecting altogether.

Less hassle and a temporary band-aid on the situation.

My Carplay had been running fine on 13.1.3. But now this is what I see when I'm playing a song from my playlist.
